Current cause and why I chose it: Postpartum Progress

I selected Postpartum Progress because I suffered from postpartum depression and rage after the birth of my first child. It took me months to realize what was wrong, and even longer to make important connections between my condition, my birth, and the issues I was suffering through. Finally, after 14 long months, I turned the corner and began to feel more like myself.

It's been over a year and a half since I truly started recovering, but I will never fully walk away from what happened, nor do I think I should. As much as I wish those 14 months could have happened differently, it forced me to be more aware of myself as a mother and more aware of how I care (or, in many cases, how I don't care) for myself.

Running has become an integral part of my self care, which, for me, is a big part of making sure I continue to feel healthy in my everyday life and secure in my mothering.
